YHA
YHA is a truly special and unique organisation creating opportunities for young people and contributing to their health, education and recreation. We make a positive impact on thousands of young people and give them experiences and memories that will stay with them, and influence them, during their lifetime.
Last year, 518,565 young people from the UK and abroad enjoyed our Youth Hostels with their school or university groups, friends or families, and many young people volunteered for YHA and worked for us.
YHA operates an amazing network of Youth Hostels spanning the length and breadth of England’s and Wales’s most inspiring landscapes and cities. We offer young people authentic experiences in the real outdoors, or in the heart of our historic cities.

We were delighted when Her Majesty officially opened our brand new Youth Hostel in the South Downs National Park in October 2013. During the last 5 years YHA has invested £31 million in YHA’s 140 -strong network; creating comfortable, contemporary-styled accommodation as well as camping and glamping facilities.
Our Youth Hostels at Ambleside, York, Pen-y-Pass, Cambridge and the iconic Black Sail in the Lake District have all been substantially renovated during the last two years.
In addition to South Downs, YHA has also invested £10 million in five other brand new Youth Hostels at the Eden Project, Brighton, Castleton in Derbyshire, Cardiff and Berwick.
